Juniors who previously tested Feb 27-March 8 will not be in attendance this day. Seniors will not be in attendance and will complete assigned work remotely. 
Juniors can leave after testing (approx. 11:45) with prior submission of release form – transportation must be provided. Buses will run on a normal schedule for all who need transportation home.

Attention Juniors:

 

The State Mandated ACT will be held at GCCC on Tuesday, March 12th. Only juniors who have not already previously tested will be in attendance on that day. Juniors who have previously tested will have an excused absence and Seniors will be given an alternate assignment to complete remotely. Juniors who are testing will report at the regular scheduled time of 7:45 a.m. and report to your first period class for attendance. You will be given instructions on where to report after attendance for testing. After testing is complete, you will have the option to dismiss early if you have a signed permission slip on file in the main office. Lunch will be provided and buses will run on their normal schedule. Students who remain in the building will report to lab for the rest of the afternoon. Please see Mr. McKnight or Mr. Prather if you have any questions or concerns.

 

It is time to WALK THE RED CARPET at Greene County Career Center’s Prom on Saturday April 20 from 7-10 pm here at the Career Center. There will be music, dancing, food trucks, prizes, games and so much more! 

 

Tickets will be on sale until WEDNESDAY APRIL 17 during lunch times. Tickets will be $15 per person. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend the Career Center, you MUST complete an out of district contract application before buying tickets!

 

This Friday is a dress down day! Pay $1.00 to your first period teacher if you choose to participate. Please remember: NO HOLES/NO HOODIES and NO SWEATPANTS of any kind! 

 

 

At dismissal time, no student should be standing in the hallway or by an exterior door waiting to leave before 2:05 PM. All students should remain in their classroom until they are released by the appropriate bell. Students who are in the hallway before 2:05 PM will have their names written down and could be faced with a write up for being out of their assigned area. Please stay in your classroom until dismissed.

Students must be in uniform every day. IF you need to borrow a uniform you must do so before the end of first period.    Students borrowing a uniform after first period

will receive a detention.   

 

 

Students must report to the cafeteria during their designated lunch times. No student is allowed to leave the lunch room without a pass from a teacher or administrative approval. Students are not permitted to hang out in the Student Lounge, break out rooms, or conference rooms during their lunch times

 

 

Veterinary Science is hosting doggie day care! Pay $10 for your dog to come to our lab and play with other dogs brought in by your friends and fellow students. For more information on requirements and how to sign up, take a brochure off the Veterinary Science door or contact Dr. Rickabaugh. 

 

 

 

If you need to take a medication at GCCC, you are required to have a prescription from your doctor AND provide the school nurse with the medication. This includes Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Benadryl, etc. GCCC does not provide students with any medications. This may be different from your home school so check in with the school nurse if you have any questions or you need the form!

Cedarville: 

CHEERLEADING CLINICS & TRYOUTS – Middle School & High School Cheerleading Clinics for the 2024-2025 school year will be held March 11th-13th from 3:00-4:30pm in the High School gym or cafeteria. Tryouts will be held March 13th from 5:00-7:00pm. If you are currently involved in a spring sport or activity, please come after/before your practice. We’ll schedule your tryout around your spring sport/activity schedule. Please stop by the office to sign up and pick up information.

CEDARVILLE PROM TICKETS – Tickets for the prom go on sale Monday, March 4th for $40. You may purchase tickets after school in the High School Office. Ticket sales will stop on Thursday before Spring Break, March 21st. Don’t miss that deadline if you want to go to prom. Prom Goers, review posted prom dress code. 

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS –The Varsity “C” Blanket application has been sent to your email. The deadline is April 1, 2024; The Becky Walker Scholarship deadline is April 1, 2024.

Fairborn Students: 

Cheer Clinics are coming soon! If you are interested in trying out for any FHS cheer squad, pay attention to Google Classroom! It is there where Tryout Material will be released on Sunday, March 10. In addition, on Thursday, March 14, there will be not only a meeting to discuss Cheer Squad materials and information, there will also be In-Person Review Sessions. This event will take place from 5:30 until 8:30pm in the Fairborn High School Commons. Coaches will be available at that time to provide feedback. You will also receive your tryout groupings. 

The FHS Baseball team is doing their annual sub sale. The subs are 8-inch sandwiches and are available in 4 different choices: Ham and cheese, Italian, Turkey, and Meatball. The cost is $7 each or 5 for $30. The subs will be provided by Lefty's Eats and Espresso in Fairborn.   All orders must be prepaid. The subs will be made Sunday March 10 and delivered then. If you are interested in buying some subs, talk to any baseball player or contact Coach Bliss. Help support the Fairborn Baseball program, and get a good meal at the same time! 

The Technology Student Association is getting ready for competition! If you are interested in Architecture, Podcasting, Board Game Design, Children's Stories, Coding, Computer Modeling, Video Production, Engineering Design, Extemporaneous Speech, Flight, Manufacturing, Music Production, Prepared Presentation, Structural Design, Systems Control, or Technical Problem Solving, come see Ms. Sauder in Room 316 or come to TSA Thursdays from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in Room 316! 

 

The Gender and Sexuality Alliance meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month in Room 316- it's not too late to join! Come join us to learn, discuss, and have fun. Next meeting is Tuesday, February 6. 

 

Fairborn High School has a new club - Christians in Action. We invite you and welcome you to join us for games, snacks, fellowship, and most importantly Jesus! We meet every Tuesday in the Senior Dining Hall from 2:45 to 3:30.

Did you know you could buy a concession stand card? What is this you ask? This is a card onto which you can load money and use at any school function where the concession stand is open. You can reload money onto this card at any time. These can be bought from the Skyhawk Athletic Booster Club. 

The New FHS Sports Complex will be equipped with 2 Daktronics Video Displays (one inside and one outside), and we need students to run them during sporting events. If you will be at the high school next year, are interested in learning how to run this equipment, and are willing to attend the sporting events to put on amazing visual displays for our Skyhawk fans, you just might find yourself watching the games from the best seat in the house! Greeneview Students:

We have an assembly on Thursday, March 7th. Early dismissal for students will be at 1:25pm. And this will be the last bus of the day.

There is a $2 donation to attend. Money raised goes to our Junior Class. If you take a pass and do not show up and turn in the pass, Greenview will call parents.

The rescheduled date for Student Council’s dance, the Spring Fling, is Friday, March 8th from 8-10pm at the high school. This is a formal dance. Dance Contracts are available in the front office. If you have a dance contract from Homecoming you do not need to complete a new form, but any guests attending the dance must have a new guest contract completed.

 

All Seniors! Including GCCC and CCP: Greeneview uses NAVIANCE to assist with all of your college and career search needs, including transcript requests. If you need to request a transcript for a college, you will need to use your NAVIANCE account. All students have a NAVIANCE account. Please check your Greeneview email for information on how to log-in and use the program and how it works with Common App.

Xenia Students: 

On March 15th there will be 2 buses at the GCCC at 1:25 p.m. to pick up students who want to attend the staff/student basketball game. Another bus will be there at the regular time.

Seniors each year, the Yellow Springs News asks the students of the YSHS graduating class to write a few paragraphs about their experience growing up in Yellow Springs. You can answer questions like 

What was your time like at YSHS? In the village schools?

Who or what helped or inspired you?

What are your feelings on the Yellow Springs community?

Is there something you’ve found to be meaningful or valuable?

What would you like to see change?

What do you see yourself doing after graduation?

What interests do you want to follow up on?

Or, you could write about something completely different, but please write. If you are trying to figure out how this works, please check in with Mr. H.

 

Do you need community service hours? Join the Guardians of the Glen. Every Friday from 3 until 5. You meet and check in at the trailside museum.

 

Are you interested in earning community service hours? Do you enjoy the outdoors and helping the environment? The Beaver Creek Wetlands Association is offering service opportunities for all volunteers this March. Visit beavercreekwetlands.org/volunteer to register. All grades are eligible for volunteering!
